Skills
- J.D. or equivalent and admission to practice in applicable jurisdiction
- 2–5 years of legal experience reviewing technical products or online services
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to counsel cross-functional teams and translate legal risk into practical solutions
- Full fluency in written and spoken English
Responsibilities
- Advise product, engineering and design teams on legal issues related to feature development, launches, experiments and ongoing platform operations
- Support legal review of new products, product changes, and technical initiatives across Wikimedia projects
- Draft, review and maintain user-facing terms, disclosures, policies, FAQs and internal legal guidance
- Counsel on product, privacy, data use, consumer protection, intellectual property, accessibility and online safety issues
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify legal risk early and develop practical, mission-aligned solutions
- Monitor and assess legal and regulatory developments affecting Wikimedia projects globally
Education
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school or equivalent foreign law degree
- Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
