Job Details:

Purpose

This position is for a full-time researcher with training in biochemistry who will be responsible for developing cutting-edge scientific research projects in the area of antibacterial effectors and Salmonella pathogenesis.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out research in biochemistry and microbiology using established and emerging empirical, experimental and statistical approaches.

  • Take initiatives in the planning and execution of research, while identifying and developing suitable techniques for the collection and analysis of data. Further develop technical or transferable skills required for research by proactively seeking training opportunities from other lab members.

  • Ensure the validity and reliability of data at all times and maintain accurate and complete records of all findings. Assist with data acquisition for scientific presentations, publications and grant applications.

  • Perform day-to-day communal lab duties that ensure the smooth running of the laboratory space.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. A strong background in biochemistry and microbiology. Knowledge of molecular biology and protein chemistry. Experience with statistical data analysis. Experience of working in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cloning, protein expression and purification, enzymatic assays.

Salary Range

$38,000
