Job Description

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) located in Reno, NV is seeking applicants for a Coordinator for the Student Activities and Leadership department. Under the direction of the Student Activities and Leadership Manager, the Coordinator provides leadership and operational oversight for comprehensive student engagement avenues, including student government, clubs and organizations, electoral engagement, and campus programming.

Responsibilities:

Student Activities & Programming

  • Develop, facilitate, and assess campus activities and engagement initiatives informed by student development principles and in collaboration with students, faculty, and staff

  • Collaborate with the SGA, campus partners, and community members to plan and execute events that reflect the needs of a diverse student population

  • Direct the marketing, communication, and outreach for the Student Activities & Leadership Office and the Student Government Association to ensure participation for campus related events and initiatives

  • Oversee TMCC's clubs and organizations by providing guidance and training and upholding departmental, institution, and NSHE policies

  • Facilitate the Events Management Committee in order to provide proper oversight, approval, and support of student-led events

  • Develop and facilitate leadership trainings, workshops, and resources for student leaders, club members, and club advisors

  • Provide fiscal oversight to the Student Activities budget and club and organization accounts

  • Host semesterly connecting points with club and organizations advisors and presidents.

  • Serve as the primary advisor for TMCC’s chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS)

  • Supervise three administrative student workers: RSO Assistant, Event Planner, and Marketing/Graphic Designer

Student Government Association Advising

  • In conjunction with the SAL Manager, provide leadership and guidance to the seven senators of the SGA in the development of programming, policies & procedures, and leadership development

  • Facilitate bi-weekly Senator support groups to encourage collaboration, address challenges, foster responsibility, and provide advisement

  • At the discretion of the SAL Manager, accompany student leaders to the quarterly Board of Regents meetings

  • In collaboration with the SAL Manager and external consultants, create and facilitate developmentally appropriate trainings and learning opportunities to support the growth and success of all student government officers

  • Ensure compliance of appropriate departmental and SGA policies and procedures

  • Research, analyze, and adhere to federal, state and local policy including Nevada Open Meeting Law, FERPA, TMCC, NSHE, Board of Regents, and SGA policies and procedures

  • Execute the annual SGA elections process from mid-January to mid-April; serve as the Advisor to the SGA Elections Committee

Operations, Administration, and Fiscal Oversight

  • Manage the daily operations of the Student Activities and Leadership office by serving as the supervisor-on-site for all employees, enforcing office policies and procedures, and maintaining processes that ensure the office is running smoothly

  • Adhere to TMCC fiscal processes by processing departmental accounting forms, reconciling accounts, documenting host transactions, completing purchase verifications, and approving student paystubs

  • Oversee the SGA Activities Budget by developing the budget, tracking expenses, and allocating funding appropriately

  • Comply with Nevada State of Higher Education and TMCC policies and procedures

Electoral Engagement

  • Develop and promote electoral engagement efforts at TMCC

  • During election cycles, serve as a key member of TMCC’s Democratic Engagement Coalition

  • Serve as the co-supervisor of the Democratic Engagement Specialist to facilitate electoral engagement efforts and the SGA election process

Assessment

  • Implement assessment strategies to evaluate program effectiveness and student learning outcomes

  • Analyze participation data to inform decision-making

2. One (1) year of related experience

Salary and Benefits Information:

Salary: $48,277 - $60,346, Initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience.

Degrees

Degrees must be accredited by CHEA - and  USDE-Recognized Accrediting Organizations.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Any expense related to the evaluation will be the responsibility of the candidate.
