Production Support Engineer II

Marqeta is a modern card issuing and payment processing company seeking a Production Support Engineer II to act as the first line of technical support for B2B customers. The role focuses on troubleshooting complex issues, performing root cause analysis, collaborating with engineering and product teams, and ensuring customers can successfully use Marqeta’s products.

Skills

3+ years in technical/production/IT support for B2B customers
Strong written and verbal communication; able to translate technical issues for non-technical stakeholders
Experience with ticketing systems (Salesforce, Jira, Confluence, etc.)
Working knowledge of APIs, HTTP, and cURL
Comfortable in a Linux environment
Intermediate SQL and relational database troubleshooting
Scripting experience (Python, Ruby, Shell)
Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools (Kibana, Splunk, Datadog, Grafana, New Relic, etc.)
Willingness to participate in on-call rotations

Responsibilities

Serve as first-line contact for customer issues across tickets, email, and other channels
Diagnose problems, perform root cause analysis, and create corrective action plans
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Technical Operations to resolve incidents and drive product improvements
Provide on-call support as part of scheduled rotations and handle escalations
Monitor production transaction volume, performance, capacity, and functionality
Optimize issuer resolution and proactively implement corrective actions
Document processes, incident learnings, and recurring pain points to improve team knowledge

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred
Or equivalent practical experience in technical support or operations
