Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Assistant Property Manager supports the day-to-day operations of a commercial real estate portfolio, helping to deliver a high-quality tenant experience through strong service, organization, and operational execution.

This role partners closely with the Associate Director of Property Management and the broader team to support tenant relations, building operations, financial processes, and vendor coordination. It is an ideal opportunity for a hospitality-driven professional looking to grow within property management.

Key Responsibilities

Tenant Experience & Relations:

  • Serve as a key point of contact for tenant requests, ensuring timely, professional, and solution-oriented responses.
  • Support proactive tenant engagement efforts to foster a positive and community-driven workplace environment.
  • Assist with planning and execution of tenant events and engagement initiatives.
  • Create and manage work orders, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support urgent property needs as required.

Property Operations:

  • Support daily building operations to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment.
  • Coordinate maintenance requests with engineering staff and third-party vendors.
  • Conduct routine property walks to identify and escalate maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Assist in monitoring building systems and reporting issues to management.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with building ownership, engineering, and vendor partners.

Financial & Administrative Support:

  • Process invoices, ensuring accurate coding and timely submission for approval.
  • Assist with accounts receivable follow-up and tracking outstanding balances.
  • Support monthly reporting by gathering operational and financial data.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records, including leases, contracts, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with vendor proposals and documentation as needed.

Leasing & Project Support:

  • Support leasing efforts by coordinating tours and providing property information to prospective tenants
  • Assist with tenant move-ins, move-outs, and suite preparations
  • Coordinate logistics related to tenant improvement projects and space customization
  • Maintain familiarity with available inventory and property offerings

Compliance & General Support:

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Support compliance with safety regulations and building requirements.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness processes and documentation.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned to support the team and property.

Additional responsibilities as needed. 

Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Hospitality, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in property management, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with property management systems preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Flexibility to support business needs outside of standard hours when required.

Working Environment:

  • Position Type: Full-time, non-exempt.  
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:15 AM – 5:15 PM (in-office).
  • Location: Primarily King Street Station (Alexandria, VA) with support to Willard Office Building (Washington, DC).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Additional Hours: May be required for tenant events, move-ins/move-outs, or emergencies

Additional Information

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000 + bonus eligibility + benefits.
