Skills
- Proven experience designing and migrating large-scale data platforms and architectures.
- Hands-on experience with multi-cloud environments, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery.
- Deep knowledge of analytical warehouses, search/index systems, object storage, and distributed systems.
- Experience building data platforms for AI/ML, including vector search and retrieval architectures.
- Experience with graph data models, entity resolution, and knowledge graph construction.
- Strong API and data access pattern design for both human and machine consumption.
- Track record managing performance, SLOs, observability, and cost optimization at scale.
- Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the target-state North Star data architecture across warehouse, search, object storage, and real-time systems.
- Design and operate AI-native data services (API-first, agent-callable) optimized for LLMs, RAG, and agentic workflows.
- Own the lifecycle of data: ingestion, transformation, storage, semantics, retrieval, and productization.
- Lead platform rationalization and phased migrations (e.g., BigQuery, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, S3) with minimal operational risk.
- Build and govern the company knowledge graph including entity resolution, identity modeling, and relationship mapping.
- Establish a data-as-a-product operating model with contracts, ownership, metadata, and discoverability.
- Define and enforce data quality, schema, metadata, and governance standards across teams.
- Ensure performance, reliability, observability and cost economics (cost per query/workload, storage efficiency).
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and AI/Applied ML teams to enable integrated data+model solutions.
- Drive hiring, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration to scale the data organization.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field required.
- Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field preferred.
